    Description

Hello Ebay Antique Lovers! I am a 20
    + year ebay seller
specializing in vintage jewelry, antique Sterling Silver items, and other old treasures. I only pick the very best pieces for my ebay customers so please view my other listings.
THIS LISTING IS FOR...this pair of vintage, (1947-79), signed JOSE LUIS FLORES, modernist, Mexican Sterling Silver earrings.  They are marked with "JLF" for Jose Luis Flores.  They are also marked "Taxco" and "sterling" and they have the Mexican eagle mark used from 1947 till 1979.  I will include some information about this eagle mark in the next paragraph for you. They are clip-ons.  I show them next to a US Quarter to help you gauge the size.  Wonderful example of the work of this highly collectible, Mexican Jewelry designer.  As usual, I show lots of photos for you so please view all photos for a true indication of the exact condition of these vintage, JOSE LUIS FLORES beauties.
Now a little bit of information about the Mexican “eagle” mark for you:  In the book “Collectible Silver Jewelry” by Fred Rezazadeh he writes “Between 1947 and 1979 the Mexican government required an eagle stamp to be used as assay mark on all sterling or higher grade silver jewelry. The number in the center identifies the silversmith. Many times, several silversmiths used the same numbers however. In 1979 a new registry system which uses 2 letters was adopted by the Mexican government. The first letter represents the city. “T” is for TAXCO. Second letter represents the first initial of the last name of the silversmith and the number represents the order in which the name was entered on a list of registered silversmiths.
