    Description

TEX'S COVERS - 1973 Special Cancel Cover 11c Airmail Stamp & Supporting Article
.  A special cancellation from the Smithsonian Station in Washington, D.C. commemorating the 100 years from Haenlein to Apollo on an airmail cover with the 11c red Jet Airliner airmail stamp (Scott #C78). Haenlein was, of course, the German mechanical engineer who designed the Aeolus - the first airship equipped with an internal combustion engine - whose only ascent occurred on December 13, 1872.  Accompanying the cover is an original clipping of the January 15, 1973 article from the Linn's Stamp News announcing and describing the details of the commemorative cancellation.
Please carefully review the photos to assess the condition.
